Axokine
is a new "miracle" drug that is currently in clinical trials.
It was originally developed for other ailments but was found to trigger a feeling
of fullness in patients. Axokine is now being tested as a weight loss drug.
Although the media are hailing Axokine as a
miracle drug, please remember back a few years when other products were being
hailed the same way. Phen Phen, Xenical, and some of which are now the subject
of huge class action law suits against the companies that released them onto the
market.
The developers on Axokine are already admitting there are side effects
to it. The amount of weight loss attributed to Axokine also appears to be less
than "miraculous" so we'll just have to wait and see.
